Loka

Loka is a premium wooden city-building toy universe rooted in ancient Indian architectural heritage, currently in development at Kartofl Studio. Designed by Vanessa and Lakshman, it invites children to build Kalavana - a fictional founding city drawn from the landscape, craft traditions, and spatial logic of Hampi - using hand-finished hardwood sets, brass-stamped emblems, and natural finishes.

The first era comprises thirteen sets, each corresponding to a distinct moment in the city's founding story: the first enclosure, the sacred grove, the Gurukul, the river's edge, the meeting place where the community gathers.

The piece vocabulary across these sets - ground planes that interlock across sets, structural wall and roof elements, figures representing nine named founders, nature pieces specific to the Deccan landscape, and botanical details drawn from South Indian daily life - was designed with the same spatial thinking that underpins architectural practice: a shared grammar of components that compose into coherent, expandable environments a child can return to and build further over time.

Loka is aimed at parents who want play to carry genuine cultural and educational weight - and at the growing community of collectors, educators, and museum gift shops for whom Indian craft and story told at this level of quality is genuinely rare. The team brings together design and world-building from Vanessa and Lakshman, production from Sharath, and marketing from Medha, with the first era targeting a Diwali 2026 launch.
